How is Telangana Electricity Bill Calculated?
Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC) approves domestic Category LT-I tariffs. For example, if a home in Hyderabad, Warangal, Nizamabad, or Karimnagar consumes 250 units with a 1 kW load (without Gruha Jyothi scheme):
- First 50 units @ ₹3.40 = ₹170.00
- Next 50 units (51 to 100) @ ₹4.80 = ₹240.00
- Next 100 units (101 to 200) @ ₹6.50 = ₹650.00
- Remaining 50 units (201 to 250) @ ₹7.50 = ₹375.00
- Total Energy Charges: ₹1,435.00
- Fixed Demand Charges: 1 kW × ₹100 = ₹100.00
- Electricity Duty (6%): (₹1,435 + ₹100) × 6% = ₹92.10
- Customer Charges & Surcharges: ₹40.00
- Estimated Total Monthly Bill: ₹1,667.10 (Approx ₹1,667)
Telangana Gruha Jyothi Free Electricity Scheme
Under the Government of Telangana's flagship Gruha Jyothi Scheme:
- Eligible domestic white-ration card holding households receive up to 200 units of free power each month.
- Eligible households with monthly consumption at or below 200 units receive a Zero Electricity Bill.
- If monthly consumption exceeds 200 units, the consumer must pay the bill for the total consumed units under standard TSERC tariffs.
- Application must be submitted via the Praja Palana program linking food security card, Aadhaar, and your USCNO.
